DAVIS, Calif. - After posting a 5-1 record in January, which includes a thrilling come-from-behind victory in last Saturday's battle for first place vs. UC Irvine, UC Davis will return to the road seeking a season sweep against both of this week's opponents, starting with Thursday's matchup at Cal Poly.
Tipoff from the Mott Athletics Center is set for 8 p.m. or 35 minutes after the Cal Poly-UC Davis women's basketball game concludes, whichever is later.
With victories in eight of the last 10 games, including their last three straight, the Aggies will look to collect their sixth win against the Mustangs in the last seven games, and third in the last four seasons in San Luis Obispo, when these teams meet in this year's season finale.
Last week, Cal Poly snapped a nine-game slide by handing UC Irvine its first league loss of the season, when it visited the Bren Events Center. As has been the case in every victory this season, the Mustangs recorded a higher field goal percentage than their opponent when they traveled to Irvine.
However, CP has lost every game where it shot a worse percentage, which was the case in the first head-to-head game of the season that took place inside the Pavilion on Jan. 7. That night, the Aggies were red hot from the floor and made half of their attempts compared to a Mustang squad that posted a .369 overall field goal percentage.
UC Davis' defense, currently ranked No. 1 in the Big West by allowing a league-low 62.5 points per game, also forced Cal Poly to miss 21 of 30 shots from three that night.
Series Record: Cal Poly leads 34-20
Last UC Davis Win: 68-64; 1/7/17 at UC Davis
Last Cal Poly Win: 58-53; 2/18/16 at Cal Poly
Series Streak: UC Davis +1
