DAVIS, Calif. -
First place is on the line when the Big West's top two teams face one another inside the Pavilion on Saturday when UC Davis hosts UC Irvine at 5 p.m. The winner of this weekend's marquee matchup will sit atop the league's standings since each squad enters with one league loss.

A victory will give UC Davis its third in row, eighth overall in the last 10 games and fifth out of the team's six conference contests.

Also at stake this weekend is the Aggies' undefeated home record -- the only Big West team that can make this claim. Another home win will hand the Anteaters their second loss in as many games after their eight-game overall, and six-game league win streak, ended on Thursday to Cal Poly.

Perceptive UC Davis basketball fans will recognize numerous faces attending tomorrow's game because the program will host its annual alumni event on Saturday. Before the game, everyone will gather for pregame festivities on the upper concourse; once action is underway, you will see Aggie greats in the stands and roaming the Pavilion throughout the entire game.

UC Davis finished last season as the conference 's No. 1 defense, a ranking that carried over to this year since it is holding opponents to only 62.0 points per game. Trailing the Aggies is UCI, a team that has allowed 64.6 ppg, the second-lowest average, throughout its BWC slate.

After scoring a career-high 26 points last weekend against the Rainbow Warriors, junior forward Chima Moneke will have another opportunity to show the Aggie faithful, and UCI, why he is a legitimate candidate for Player of the Year honors. For the ninth week in a row, Moneke is the Big West's top rebounder at 8.5 per game, leads all league players in field goal percentage (.578), total rebounds (170), defensive rebounds (128) and blocks per game (1.2).

Series Record: UC Irvine leads 22-14
Last UC Davis Win: 80-61; 3/17/15 at UC Davis
Last UC Irvine Win: 62-61; 2/27/16 at UC Davis
Series Streak: UC Irvine +2
