DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis will seek its seventh win on a row against CSUN in Saturday's nationally televised Big West road game. ESPNU's broadcast from Northridge will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Sam Farber and Richie Schueler providing play-by-play and additional analysis courtside from the Matadome.
The Aggies would love nothing more than to extend their win streak against the Matadors, doing so will mark their fourth win in the last five matchups at CSUN, and hand the host school its first league loss of the season.
Saturday's contest will also pit two former Sacramento Kings against one another when UC Davis head coach Jim Les squares off against CSUN head coach Reggie Theus. Since Theus arrived before the start of the 2013-14 campaign, Coach Les has won six of the seven head-to-head games, and swept the season series the last two years.
In last year's regular season finale, the Aggies erased an 11-point deficit to force overtime; a layup from Graham in the final seconds of OT required an additional five-minute period to take place. Even though UC Davis could not connect on its game-winning attempt at the buzzer during the second overtime, it jumped out to an early five-point lead in triple OT, and did not let CSUN get closer than three points the rest of the way.
In order to record a similar result, the Aggies must neutralize the Matadors' offensive triple threat consisting of Kendall Smith, Tavrion Dawson and Darin Johnson. That group is responsible for scoring a collective 150 of CSUN's 241 points (62 percent) throughout its three BWC games.
UC Davis' next game is a unique one for Lawrence White since he will compete just a short drive away from Burbank, his hometown. The senior guard attended John Burroughs High School, then attended nearby Antelope Valley College before transferring to UC Davis.
