Dec. 7, 2016 DAVIS, Calif. - For the second week in a row, Chima Moneke is the top rebounder in the Big West Conference, leading all players with his 8.3 per game average. The junior forward also leads the league with 56 defensive and 75 total boards - figures that are three of numerous top 10 league statistics.
Ranked No. 2 in blocks per game (1.4) and No. 3 in offensive rebounds (18) among all BWC players, Moneke is also ranked No. 6 in field goals made (44), No. 8 in field goal percentage (.537) and No. 9 in free throws made (25) entering this week's schedule.
The Canberra native is also ranked No. 2 in double-doubles, trailing the league's leader by only one game. In addition to recording 15 points and 13 rebounds vs. the Hornets, Moneke posted his second double-double of the season five days later at the GCI Great Alaska Shootout by finishing with 21 and 12 against Oakland.
Three of the top nine single-game rebound totals posted by a BWC player this season also belong to the Canberra native. His 14-rebound performance vs. Tennessee State (his first game as an Aggie) is the second-highest total this season by a conference player. Moneke's 13 rebounds vs. Sacramento State and 12 rebounds vs. Oakland comprise one-third of the top nine individual efforts recorded so far this season in the Big West.
Due to finals, the Aggies will not return to action until Saturday, Dec. 10, when they visit Cal in a matchup the Pac-12 Networks will televise nationally, starting at 7:30 p.m.
