UC Davis basketball hosts annual toy drive

Dec. 15, 2016

DAVIS, Calif. - Basketball fans will have an opportunity to brighten a child’s holiday simply by donating a new, unwrapped toy this Saturday at the Pavilion when UC Davis hosts William Jessup at 2 p.m.

All donations will benefit the UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

Anyone who drops off an item will receive reduced admission; students that participate in this event will receive a prize courtesy of a UC Davis Athletics corporate partner. Only one toy is needed to receive a discount on admission, or a prize, but fans can donate as many items as they like.

Saturday’s contest marks the first time in a month since the Aggies last hosted an event. Within that timespan, UC Davis competed in seven games, including the first-ever college basketball game at the Golden 1 Center, which ended with an win against Sacramento State and the team’s inaugural appearance at the Great Alaska Shootout — the longest-running regular season college basketball tournament in the country.
