ANCHORAGE -
For the second time in as many games, UC Davis will face an opponent for the first time in the program's history when it visits the Alaska Airlines Center Saturday afternoon. On Friday, the Aggies battled the Drake Bulldogs, now they will take on the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. And as was the case in Friday's consolation semifinal, UC Davis will seek another victory in its first head-to-head meeting on Saturday. Doing so will allow the team to return to Davis with a consolation championship.

UC Davis will enter its final game at the 2016 GCI Great Alaska Shootout with a momentum-generating victory over a Missouri Valley Conference opponent. Even though Drake battled back to erase the Aggies' first-half lead in the opening minutes of the second half, UC Davis pulled away in the last three minutes thanks to clutch defensive stops, timely threes (both behind the arc and the old-fashion variety) to earn a berth against an Oakland squad that also has five wins to its credit this season.

UC Davis' Horizon League foe also enjoyed a four-game win streak -- it topped Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Goshen and Chicago State -- before it was snapped by an 82-78 loss on Wednesday to Nevada. In that game against the Wolf Pack, Oakland led by 16 points at halftime before Nevada battled back to earn an 82-78 win -- the largest halftime comeback recorded by any team in the Shootout's 39-year history.
