ANCHORAGE - A historic week for UC Davis basketball will continue Thanksgiving evening when the Aggies face defending Big Sky Conference regular season champion, league tournament title winners, and 2016 NCAA Tournament participant Weber State in the team's tournament opener at the GCI Great Alaska Shootout.
The Aggies' inaugural appearance in the longest-running regular season college basketball tournament in the nation will take place three days after they won the inaugural college basketball game hosted by the Golden 1 Center - the new state-of-the-art downtown home of the Sacramento Kings.
This is the third all-time meeting between the Aggies and Wildcats, and the first since Dec. 5, 1994. Both previous matchups took place in Ogden, Utah; this is the first neutral-site contest involving both teams.
UC Davis has already defeated two Big Sky teams - Northern Arizona and Sacramento State - and will look to record a hat trick of victories when it visits the Alaska Airlines Center Thursday night at 8 p.m. (Pacific)/9 p.m. (Alaska).
Idaho is the final Big Sky team on UC Davis' non-conference schedule; this matchup will take place at Moscow, Idaho, on Dec. 3.
Another win will extend the Aggies' win streak to five games for the fourth time as a Division I program, The other three occasions took place throughout the 2014-15 season - a year that saw UC Davis win its first Big West Conference championship and earn its first postseason appearance as a Div. I team.
