DAVIS, Calif. - An early season Causeway Cup clash, 13 home duals, two three-match homestands and a season-long string of five events at the Marya Welch Tennis Center highlights women's tennis' spring schedule.
UC Davis will kick-off its dual slate starting Jan. 21 in Tempe, Arizona. After facing Northern Arizona in a neutral-site dual, women's tennis will take on Arizona State the next day (Jan. 22). The Aggies' season-opening three-match road swing will conclude at Sacramento State the following week (Jan. 28).
The team will start its 13-match home schedule on Jan. 29 when San Francisco visits campus, followed by a Feb. 5 doubleheader against Stanislaus State and Sonoma State. Those two matches will open a busy week of events for women's tennis since women's tennis will end its week by heading west to the islands for a dual at Chaminade (Feb. 10) and its Big West Opener at Hawai'i (Feb. 11).
On Feb. 18, UC Davis will seek redemption in its first home league contest when UC Santa Barbara visits the Marya Welch Tennis Center. In last year's Big West Tournament, it was the Gauchos who ousted the Aggies in the quarterfinals en route to capturing a league title.
Before the team's season-long homestand begins, a brief trek to Santa Clara is scheduled for Feb. 19.
Visiting Davis throughout a five-match nine-day timespan are Pacific (Feb. 25), Air Force (Feb. 26), Montana (March 3), Cal Poly (March 4) and Montana State (March 5). Once this busy block of action concludes, the Aggies will not return to the courts until they compete in back-to-back road contests at Nevada (March 10) and Saint Mary's (March 15).
A home dual against Northern Colorado (March 26) will precede five straight Big West contests; the first three will take place on the road at Cal State Fullerton (March 30), CSUN (March 31) and UC Irvine (April 2).
UC Davis will end the season with three home duals, starting with its matchup vs. UC Riverside on April 7. Additional events against Long Beach State (April 8) and San José State (April 15) will serve as the team's final tune-ups before action begins at the Big West Conference Women's Tennis Tournament.
For the 14th consecutive season, the Indian Wells Tennis Garden will serve as the site of the league's year-end postseason tournament. The opening round will take place on April 27; winners of the four quarterfinal matches, scheduled for April 28, will square off in one of two semifinals set for April 29. The championship match is slated for April 30.
