DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis scored 18 of the first 22 points in Saturday's non-conference game at the Pavilion and collected its second wire-to-wire victory by defeating Holy Names, in its final non-conference game of the season, by a 74-49 score.

UC Davis will now enter Thursday's conference opener, at UC Irvine, with a 5-8 overall record. That league matchup, featuring last year's Big West regular-season and tournament champions, will air nationally on Fox College Sports in Northern and Central California, and on Fox Prime Ticket in Southern California.

Led by Neal Monson and his career-high 20 points, on 9 of 11 shooting, three UC Davis players finished in double figures. Lawrence White also set a new career high by sinking 5 of 7 shots and scored 14 points. Siler Schneider, who sank the game-tying shot in Seattle last Monday and posted a season-high 21 points at Boise State two days later, recorded 10 or more points for the fifth time in the last six games by ending his afternoon with 18.

As a team, the Aggies shot a season-high .566 from the floor compared to the Hawks who finished with a .328 overall percentage.

UC Davis outrebounded Holy Names, 46-26, with three Aggies leading the way. Georgi Funtarov led all players with nine boards, one shy of a career high, followed by a career-high eight from Garrison Goode, and another eight from Monson. Rogers Printup set a new career-high total by grabbing five rebounds; White also collected five boards of his own to help his team snap its six-game slide.

Holy Names will return to Oakland with the same record since Saturday's game was an exhibition for the Hawks.

Of UC Davis' 74 points, all but 20 were scored in the paint. Compared to the Hawks who did not score a point off any of the Aggie' nine turnovers, one shy of a season low, UC Davis scored 13 points off 11 HNU miscues, and were responsible for all 17 second-chance points scored throughout the Aggies' final non-conference game of the season.

By scoring 18 of the game's first 22 points throughout the first eight minutes of action, UC Davis held a comfortable double-digit cushion for the vast majority of the afternoon.

Trailing by 23 at halftime, Holy Names was able to trim its deficit to 18 on five occasions, but could not pull itself any closer to UC Davis in the second half.

By scoring the final six points of the game on a layup from White, a jumper from Michael Onyebalu and back-to-back free throws from Schneider, the Aggies were able to post its largest lead of the day when the final buzzer.

Including Saturday's game, UC Davis won all five head-to-head contests against HNU and will now focus its attention toward the Big West's first week of league action. UC Davis will open its conference slate with two national broadcasts on Jan. 7, at UC Irvine, and on Jan. 9, at Long Beach State, in a game carried by ESPN3.
