April 7, 2015 DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis women's basketball program will take a look back and celebrate its 2014-15 campaign with the team's annual postseason banquet to be held on Sunday (April 12) at 10 a.m., at the Buehler Alumni Center on campus.
Parents, alumnae, and fans are invited to join Head Coach Jennifer Gross, the coaching staff, and student-athletes at the event, which costs $30 per person, or you can sponsor a player's meal for the same price. The Aggies finished the year at 15-16 overall and 8-8 in the Big West Conference, making a run into the semifinals of the league tournament following a pair of thrilling wins over UC Irvine and Long Beach State in the first two rounds.
Heading into Tuesday night's NCAA National Championship game, the Aggies ranked among the nation's top 20 in three different categories: No. 4 in three-point percentage (.387), No. 14 in field goal percentage (.449), and No. 16 in three-pointers made per game (8.1 pg). Individually, Kelsey Harris ranked No. 3 in the nation in three-point percentage (.483) and No. 23 in three-pointers per game (2.77 pg), earning her a spot in the State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships, advancing to the semifinals.
Senior Sydnee Fipps, who missed the final four games of the season after suffering a knee injury at UC Riverside, earned All-Big West First Team honors for the third consecutive year, joining Paige Mintun as the only UC Davis women's basketball players to accomplish the feat, and one of only 17 players in the history of the Big West with three first team honors in a career.
Junior center Alyson Doherty and freshman guard Dani Nafekh rounded out the UC Davis all-conference honorees, as Doherty was named to the All-Big West Second Team for the second consecutive year while Nafekh was named to the league's All-Freshman Team.
