March 24, 2015

Results and live scoring

LAHAINA, Hawaii
- Andrea Wong fired a 4-under 68 Tuesday to take over the individual lead from teammate Paige Lee, whose 72 put her alone in second just one shot behind, as the No. 32 UC Davis women's golf team roared to a five-stroke advantage after the second round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at The Bay Course on Maui.

The Aggies shot 1-under 288 on Tuesday - just one of two teams in the 16-team field to break par - and are 1 over leading into Wednesday's final round. First-day leader Texas is 6 over and in second place while Oregon was 4 under in the second round and is in third at 9 over.

Seven teams ranked in Golfstat's top 50 are participating in the three-day tournament.

Wong's 4-under day moved her from a tie for second into the lead at 5 under. Lee, who owned the individual lead after Monday's opening round is 4 under and is three shots clear of the next closest player.

The remaining three Aggies each improved their scores from Monday. Betty Chen cut three strokes to fire a 73 and is tied for 21st at 5 over. Senior Beverly Vatananugulkit is also tied for 21st after carding a 74 and senior Blair Lewis is tied for 48th at 12 over after shooting 79.

Both Wong and Lee have individual titles this season. Wong finished first at the inaugural East & West Match Play Challenge at Michigan in the fall while Lee took top honors at Stanford's Peg Barnard Invitational in February.

Wong was 1 over after four holes on Tuesday but then had consecutive birdies on the fifth and sixth holes to get into red numbers. She made her turn 1 under and then posted three birdies and six pars on the back for her 68, the same score Lee had on Monday.

Lee was even on both sides of the course, playing the last six holes a shot under par to come in even. Oregon's Caroline Inglis is 1 under and in third place, three shots behind Lee. Wong, Lee and Inglis are the only golfers in the tournament under par.

Chen carded four birdies on Tuesday - two on the front side and two on the back - including two on par-5 holes. Vatananugulkit had a pair of birdies early in her round and ended her round with five consecutive pars. Lewis had back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes, helping her play the front nine just 2 shots over par.

The tournament ends with a shotgun round on Wednesday beginning at 10:45 a.m. (PDT). UC Davis is paired with No. 50 Texas, No. 27 Oregon and No. 42 San Jose State.
