DAVIS, Calif. - First baseman Nick Lynch hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and had a school-record 8 RBIs on Tuesday afternoon as UC Davis powered past Nevada in a 10-4 nonconference baseball win at Dobbins Stadium.

The Aggies won for the third straight outing, improved to 11-6-1 and evened their season series against the Wolf Pack at a game apiece. Nevada, which got three hits and two runs batted in from Cal Stevenson, lost for just the third time this season, falling to 13-3.

Max Cordy scattered four hits while allowing just one walk and striking out four to earn the win on the mound. He improved to 4-0.

Lynch provided all of the offense UC Davis needed on Tuesday, adding an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly to help him knock in his eight runs. That broke the school record of seven, achieved four previous times including most recently by current Colorado Rockies' infielder Daniel Descalso against CSUN in 2007.

"He's always been a really good hitter," said Aggie coach Matt Vaughn. "He's locked in right now. He'll have an at-bat like the first one where he's just swinging at a lot of off-speed stuff and then he makes good adjustments. He doesn't seem to keep getting beat the same way."

Cordy came out strong for the Aggies, not allowing a hit through the first three innings while putting down eight straight batters during one stretch from the first through fourth innings. Austin Byler finally broke through for the Wolf Pack, getting Nevada into the hit column with a single to right with one out in the fourth.

Lynch gave UC Davis a 1-0 lead in the third, knocking in shortstop Evan Heptig with a sacrifice fly to center field. Heptig had led off the frame with an infield single.

Lynch's big shot came during a five-run fourth inning for the Aggies who scored their first run on an infield error and then loaded the bases with the help of a pair of walks. Lynch then stepped up and hit a line-drive grand slam down the left-field line to score Tino Lipson, Kevin Barker and Heptig.

Stevenson's two-run single in the sixth helped cut Nevada's deficit to 7-4 but Lynch provided more separation in the bottom of the frame with a deep two-run shot to left that plated Lipson for a 9-4 lead. Lynch capped his day with a triple to right-center field that brought around Barker from first with two outs in the seventh.

Cordy was relieved after allowing a an RBI double to left by Trenton Brooks in the fifth. He opened the inning by hitting a pair of batters. Jason Mullins came on in relief, the first of three Aggie relievers. Until that point, however, Cordy had controlled Nevada's attack.

"Max pitched really well," Vaughn said. "He and I are a little baffled by how it comes apart a little bit. We walk a couple of guys and he's always been that guy that will do that but he's capable of getting out of it.

"We're pretty deep this year and we've got another guy to go to," Vaughn added. "Mullins came in and did a nice job and Peters and and Stone came in and followed that up."

The loss was just the third of the year for Nevada which Vaughn said has been getting consideration for the top 25.

"It's a great win," he said. "I told the coaches and I told the team that every win is a good win. That's standard for coaches to say but this for me is better than a good win because it's against a really good club."

The Aggies, in the midst of playing 11 of 12 on the road, will travel to Fresno State for a three-game series this weekend. First pitch against the Bulldogs on Friday is 6:35 p.m.
