FAIRFAX, Calif. - UC Davis junior Betty Chen shot a 1-under 70 for the second consecutive round on Tuesday and finished in seventh place as the No. 36 Aggie women's golf team posted another strong showing by finishing third at the inaugural Bay Area Intercollegiate at Meadow Golf Club.

UC Davis was the third-highest ranked program in the 13-team tournament and only trailed No. 1 Washington and No. 31 Oregon in the final standings. The top-ranked Huskies were dominant, posting a 24-shot win over the Ducks. The Aggies, who were 14 over, beat four top-50 teams - No. 39 Colorado, No. 45 Coastal Carolina, No. 40 San Jose State and No. 47 Gonzaga.

UC Davis shot 7-over 291 in Tuesday's final round, the third-best team score of the day. Chen's 70 helped her finish 1 under for the tournament while giving her the second top-10 placing of the season. Andrea Wong shot 72 and tied for 12th at 2 over, Beverly Vatananugulkit tied for 15th at 5 over after carding a 73, Paige Lee tied for 22nd after her 76 put her 8 over, and Blair Lewis was 13 over after firing a 76.

Jennifer Yang of Washington and Esther Lee of Colorado tied for medalist honors at 7 under.

Chen was 2 over after nine holes but then blitzed the back nine for a 3-under 33, picking up birdies on the 11th, 12th and 15th holes. She had five birdies on the day. Wong had a steady round that featured one birdie and 15 pars, including 11 straight to end her round.

Vatananugulkit had two birdies while posting par on the front nine, and added seven pars on the back. Lee played well on her final 10 holes, going just 1 over, while Lewis had a string of 11 consecutive pars midway through her final round.

UC Davis is off until traveling to Maui, Hawaii, for the Anuenue Spring Break Classic on Mar. 23-25.
