ESPN3 selects another UC Davis game

Feb. 9, 2015

DAVIS, Calif. - After its successful showing on ESPN3 at UC Irvine last week, the network will now air another game across the country when UC Davis men's basketball visits Long Beach State on Feb. 19. Tipoff from the Walter Pyramid is set for 7 p.m.

With Monday's announcement, UC Davis will now appear on ESPN and its family of networks on four occasions this season.

Men's basketball's first appearance took place on Jan. 10 when Long Beach State traveled to Davis. That evening, UC Davis erased an 11-point second-half deficit, forced overtime and scored 14 of the 22 points throughout the extra session to defeat the 49ers inside a Pavilion packed with UC Davis fans.

Three weeks later, another 5,000-plus fans witnessed another UC Davis come-from-behind victory when the Aggies rallied from a 14-point deficit - its largest of the season - to beat Cal Poly in overtime. As was the case against Long Beach State, that game was televised on ESPNU.

In last Thursday's ESPN3 broadcast from the Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif., overtime was not needed thanks to a 16-6, UC Davis scoring run that took place just before halftime. When action resumed, the Aggies' 10-point lead grew to a game-high 25 points en route to a 75-56, UC Davis blowout victory.

UC Davis, a team that has won nine of its last 10 games, will bring a four-game win streak to the Pavilion when Cal State Fullerton visits on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
