Aggies rule the Big West from three

Feb. 12, 2015

DAVIS, Calif. - Ranked No. 1 in the nation from three with its .462 percentage, and No. 1 in the Big West Conference with a 9.05 three-point field goals per game average, four UC Davis men's basketball players will also enter tonight's home game against Cal State Fullerton with top 10 league rankings from three with their individual percentages.

Responsible for nearly half of the conference top shooting percentages from three, seniors Corey Hawkins, Avery Johnson, Tyler Les, Josh Ritchart are key reasons why UC Davis is dangerous from behind the arc.

Hawkins leads all league players with his .526 percentage; Les is ranked No. 4 with his .467 mark; Ritchart sits one spot behind Les with his .462 clip; Johnson completes the Aggies' list and is No. 7 by shooting .418 from three.

Hawkins has drained 61 treys this season, and needs another 25 to match a combined total from his first two seasons in Davis.

Ritchart leads all active Big West players with his 218 threes, ranked right behind Ritchart is Les and his 186 career three-point field baskets.

Of Les' 211 field goals, 88 percent were collected from distance.

By connecting on five occasions throughout the Aggies' last three games, Johnson's 23 field goals are a new single-season career high.

UC Davis men's basketball will return to the Pavilion Thursday night for its only game scheduled this week when Cal State Fullerton visits campus. Even though tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., fans are encouraged to arrive early to participate in the school's Salute to Heroes pregame ceremony.
