DAVIS, Calif. - By scoring 22 of 26 points in the first half of Wednesday's non-conference game from the Pavilion, and posting another 13-5 scoring run after halftime, UC Davis capped its season-opening three-game homestand with a 76-46 win over Fresno Pacific.

UC Davis will now enter Tuesday's Causeway Cup matchup, at Sacramento State, with a 2-1 overall record.

Josh Fox led all players with 21 points, two shy of a career high, and was one of three Aggies who finished with a double-digit points total. By connecting on all four of his attempts from the floor, and on three occasions at the line, Lawrence White finished with 11 points. Siler Schneider chipped in another 13 by draining three shots from distance, another from inside the arc and both free throw attempts.

As a team, UC Davis finished 24-for-46 overall (.522 pct.), 5-for-11 (.455) from three and 18-for-22 (.818) at the stripe. Thanks to the Aggies' swarming defense, the Sunbirds shot 18-for-64 (.281) from the floor and 6-for-25 (.240) from distance.

"One thing I really liked was the way we defended tonight," said UC Davis head coach Jim Les. "We had five guys who were always engaged and took pride on the defensive end of the floor. If we continue to play like that, good things will happen."

UC Davis opened the game with a 10-3 run before Fresno Pacific scored nine unanswered to hold its only lead of the night midway through the first half.

During the next 8:58 of game time, the Aggies scored 22 of 26 points, held FPU scoreless for 4:41 of that run, and began to pull away from the Sunbirds.

Once action resumed after halftime, UC Davis added to its lead thanks to a 13-5 scoring run, and another 8-0 push until it grew to a game high 30-point margin in the final minutes.

Led by Georgi Funtarov who grabbed a game-high seven rebounds throughout his 11 minutes on the court, all 11 Aggies who played in Wednesday's game recorded a rebound.

As a team, UC Davis won the battle of the boards for the third straight game, and outrebounded the Sunbirds by a 46-34 margin.

"We have played our first three games at home, and now it's our turn to travel," said Les referring to the team's upcoming schedule - one that features four road games out of its next five matchups.

"Defense travels; no matter how we shoot, if we are able to come up with key stops, we stand a chance in anyone's building."

Spencer Krannitz and Roger Paul led each led Fresno Pacific with a team-high 10 points.
