MORAGA, Calif. - Alex Huie, Kristy Jorgensen, and Isabella Von Ebbe survived tough draws during the first two days of tournament action to advance to Sunday's semifinal round in their respective flights at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational.

Von Ebbe defeated her rival from across the Causeway, and a West Coast Conference foe to win the Singles C Main Draw championship.

In her semifinal matchup, the Aggie freshman defeated Sacramento State's Emily McColl by matching 6-3 set scores; her following match, one that took three sets to determine a victor, took place against another formidable foe when she returned to the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex to face Gonzaga's Sissi Koehler.

Von Ebbe jumped out to an early lead thanks to her 6-3, first set victory, before Koehler battled back to even things up at one set apiece. In the decisive set, Von Ebbe's clutch play helped her win set three, 6-4, and the bracket's overall title.

In the Singles B flight, Huie started her day in a positive way by defeating Cal's Audrey Mayer in her consolation semifinal, 6-3 and 6-2, and advanced to the championship round where she faced another Pac-12 opponent.

Huie battled Stanford's Naomie Rosenberg valiantly in the consolation championship, but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-2, to finish her weekend in Moraga as the B flight's consolation runner-up.

Jorgensen was the final Aggie to compete Sunday morning when she drew Portland's Maja Mladenovic in the Singles A Consolation Semifinals.

After winning the first set, 6-3, Mladenovic took the following set, 6-4, to set up a winner-take-all tiebreaker. Jorgensen's run ultimately ended in dramatic fashion after she fell in that final frame, 1-0, by that tiebreaker by a 9-7 score.

Even though her weekend ended earlier than she desired, Jorgensen can take solace in the fact that she was defeated by her bracket's singles champion.

By winning two of three round robin matches in the Doubles C bracket during play on Friday and Saturday, Von Ebbe and Samantha Martino secured a second place finish.

UC Davis is off next weekend, but will return to action the following week, on Oct. 23, at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championship.
