NCAA three-point shooting leaders

DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis senior guard Kelsey Harris may be No. 33 in your program, but she's No. 1 in the nation when it comes to three-point shooting entering this week's Big West Conference openers through games of Jan. 4.

The Brea, California, native has been white-hot from beyond the arc through the Aggies first 12 games, hitting 33-of-62 (.532) from long distance while shooting just under 51 percent from the field overall -- which ranks fifth overall in the league. Harris ranks third on the team in scoring at 9.6 points per game and second among the Big West's sharpshooters (No. 34 nationally) with 2.75 three-pointers made per game.

All but nine of Harris' field goal attempts (87 percent) and all but three of her made baskets (92 percent) have come from three-point range continuing a trend that saw her take 82 percent (217 of 264) of her shots from beyond the arc as a junior last season. She finished with a season-high five makes from three-point range against Saint Mary's on Nov. 22, and has hit four from long distance on five other occasions -- including her last outing against Menlo College on Jan. 3.

Harris and the Aggies open Big West play this weekend against the league's top two teams record-wise when they travel to CSUN (10-4) and Long Beach State (13-1). UC Davis takes on the Matadors on Thursday (Jan. 8) at 7 p.m., before battling the 49ers on Saturday (Jan. 10) at 2 p.m.
