Future Aggie nabs Player of the Week accolades

Jan. 21, 2015

LANCASTER, Calif. – In his team’s inaugural week of conference play, sophomore guard Lawrence White, who will compete for UC Davis starting next season after signing a NLI during the fall window, was named Western State Conference Player of the Week after leading Antelope Valley College to wins in two recent road games at College of the Canyons and Los Angeles Valley College.

On Jan. 7, at COC, the Burbank, Calif. native was an efficient 5-for-7 from the floor, 1-for-2 from three and connected on three of his four free throws attempts to finish with 14 points. White also nabbed three rebounds, recorded two assists and a steal to help AVC collect a six-point victory.

Three days later, White turned in another efficient performance when the Marauders visited L.A. Valley. That evening, he connected on 4 of 7 shots, including one from three, made both free throws and led his team with three steals in Antelope Valley’s 103-67, blowout win.

White’s shooting is a key reason why his team is currently riding a 10-game win streak, and, like UC Davis, AVC is a perfect 4-0 against league teams this season entering this week’s action.

Another two league games took place between AVC’s league opener and the conference’s Player of the Week announcement involving White; the Marauders easily won both contests against West L.A. College ad Citrus College by 22 and 18 points respectively.

White is currently averaging 10.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, is shooting .586 percent overall and .382 from three.

His future team will return to Big West action Thursday night at Hawai’i, tipoff from the Stan Sheriff Center will take place at 9 p.m. (PT) / 7 p.m. (HT). If the Aggies defeat the Rainbow Warriors, this year’s roster will set two new Div. I-era school records for the most overall and road wins in a season.

UC Davis, the only Big West Conference team with an undefeated league record, has 14 overall and six road victories to its credit this year.
