DAVIS, Calif. - Registration is now open for UC Davis men's basketball's summer youth camp and shooting and skills academy. With limited space available at each event, campers are encouraged to secure their spot by registering online. No walk-up registrations will be accepted for either camp.

Possessing over 50 combined years of Division I experience, UC Davis' men's basketball coaching staff will provide instruction for all sessions.

Campers will be organized according to age, size and ability for balanced competition. All participants are required to wear athletic shorts, t-shirt and athletic shoes throughout the duration of the camp.

Focused on providing rewarding and enjoyable experience for girls and boys ages 4-13, the four-day youth camp will take place inside the Pavilion, located on UC Davis' main campus, from June 16-19.

Through specialized instruction, group drills and live competition, youth campers will participate in a fun-filled environment with activities designed to improve basketball fundamentals. Passing, rebounding, proper footwork, shot selection and defense techniques are a few examples of the numerous topics camp staff will cover throughout the week.

Half-day and full-day youth camp options are available this summer; families interested in registering multiple campers can also take advantage of a sibling discount.

Designed by former NBA three-point specialist Jim Les, the two-day shooting and skills academy will focus its instruction on the art of shooting and specific fundamentals.

Even though all aspects of basketball fundamentals will be covered, the staff will focus its efforts on developing proper shot mechanics, teaching proper footwork and strengthening campers' mental approach.

For an additional fee, academy participants can receive a DVD containing clips of their jump shot for additional analysis.

Per NCAA rules, sport camps and clinics conducted by UC Davis are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions.
