BANDON, Ore. - After a nearly three-week layoff, the UC Davis men's golf team returns to action on Sunday at he nation's top resort course when the Aggies open play at the Bandon Dunes Championship, hosted by Gonzaga.
The 15-team tournament will be played at the Pacific Dunes Course at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The event, being hosted for the fifth straight year by Gonzaga, uses a different course at Bandon Dunes each year. All four courses at the resort are ranked in Golfweek's 2014 Best Resort Courses with Pacific Dunes ranking No. 1 this year.
The Pacific Dunes course measures 6,603 yards and will play to a par-71.
UC Davis has not played since co-hosting the Prestige at PGA WEST with Stanford in mid-February. The Aggies, who are playing their third tournament of the spring, will field a lineup comprised of Matt Hansen, Ben Corfee, Jonny Baxter, Joshua Granger and Luke Vivolo.
Besides No. 71 UC Davis, other teams entered in the tournament include Boston College, No. 48 Colorado, Gonzaga, Missouri, No. 39 Oregon, Pacific, Rice, Saint Mary's, San Jose State, Missouri-Kansas City, Utah Valley, No. 16 Washington, Washington State and Weber State.
Colorado won last year's tournament while Troix Trenham of Fresno State took medalist honors. The Aggies were 14th in last year's tournament.
Hansen, who has two top-five finishes this season, leads the team in scoring with a 70.1 average with Corfee (71.9), Baxter (72.7), Vivolo (73.8) and Granger (74.4) next.
