DAVIS, Calif. - Ryan Sypkens became the fourth player in the 45-year history of the Big West Conference to record 300 three-point field goals, a historic feat earned on his first attempt in Thursday's Big West Conference game from The Pavilion, one Long Beach State took by a 79-57 score.

UC Davis will now head to Hawai'i for Saturday night's 9 p.m. (PT)/7 p.m. (HT) league contest with an 8-18 overall and 3-8 Big West record, Long Beach State ends its weekend with a 12-14 and 8-4 mark.

By ending his evening with two baskets from three, the senior guard now needs another 10 throughout the Aggies' final five regular season games to surpass Adam Jacobsen's (Pacific, 1993-98) conference-record 311 treys.

Corey Hawkins led all players with 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the floor and 5 of 6 clip at the free throw line.

In addition to tying his career high with five points, Justin Dueck led all Aggies with a career-high five rebounds.

Exactly one week ago, at Cal State Fullerton, Dueck recorded identical points and rebounds totals to set new career highs in each category.

With five minutes remaining in the first half, a layup from Hawkins pulled the Aggies within three at 24-21. From that point on, the 49ers ended up scoring 11 of the final 15 points prior to the break to enter their locker room with a 10-point advantage.

Prior to Long Beach's late run, neither team possessed a lead higher than five points as nine lead changes, and four tied scores took place throughout a highly competitive 15-minute block of action.

"When this team competes and executes, we can play against anybody. The nice part about having a disappointing performance on Thursday is that you can get back at it on Saturday," said UC Davis head coach Jim Les following the game.

"We did not execute tonight like we are capable of," added Les.
