DAVIS, Calif. - For the second week in a row, UC Davis is the only Big West team to secure a top 25 ranking when CollegeInsider.com released its Mid-Major Poll on Monday. In the outlet's current list, the Aggies are ranked No. 25.
By defeating Northern Colorado last Tuesday on its home court in near wire-to-wire fashion, UC Davis won its fifth straight game against the Bears, snapped their 14-game home win streak and secured the best 10-game start as a DIv. I program by collecting its ninth victory.
The 1997-98 Division II national championship team is the only other group to post a 9-1 start in the program's 104-year history.
When the Aggies returned to action last Sunday, the team nearly erased a 22-point first-half deficit before the clock ended the team's come-from-behind effort at Washington State.
Even though UC Davis is the lone league team represented in the top 25, another two Big West squads in Hawai'i and UC Irvine received votes.
Men's basketball will cap a portion of its schedule that includes four consecutive road games Tuesday night when the Aggies visit KeyArena to face the Seattle RedHawks. Tipoff for UC Davis' final non-conference road game is set for 7 p.m.
