Men's hoops hosts SJSU, toy drive Wednesday night

Dec. 1, 2014

DAVIS, Calif. - Men's basketball will host its annual holiday toy drive on Wednesday, Dec. 3, when UC Davis hosts the San José State Spartans. UC Davis students who donate an unwrapped new toy will receive a YoloBerry gift card; everyone else that drops off an item will have an opportunity to purchase GA tickets for $8.

Tipoff for Wednesday's game at the Pavilion is slated for 7 p.m., all proceeds will benefit Toys for Tots.

"All children deserve a memorable and happy Christmas," said UC Davis head coach Jim Les. "We are proud to work with Toys for Tots once again to help children and families in need."

The first arriving UC Davis students will also receive a long sleeve t-shirt courtesy of West Village.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation's most valuable natural resources-our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause and to contribute to better communities in the future.

To receive a gift card or discounted admission, only one toy needs to be donated. However, fans from either team can contribute as many items as they would like.
