Dec. 1, 2014 DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis women's basketball team will host a food drive for students in need prior to its game against San Francisco on Tuesday (Dec. 2) at The Pavilion, asking fans and students alike to bring a donation of canned and non-perishable food items in support of The Pantry on campus.
Fans who bring a donation to Tuesday's 7 p.m. tip-off with the Dons will be able to purchase general admission tickets for the group rate of $6, while students who donate to the cause will receive a gift certificate from Yolo Berry Yogurt.
Housed in Freeborn Hall on campus, the mission of The Pantry is to aid UC Davis students by ensuring that no student ever has to miss a meal or go without basic necessities due to financial reasons, providing up to three meals or personal items a day. The student-run organization, operating almost entirely on donations from the community, provides non-perishable, high-protein food for UC Davis students struggling to pay for meals, while also providing basic needs such as toiletries, soap, and toothbrushes.
