Final results

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Paige Lee and Blair Lewis tied for fourth place on the player leaderboard while the UC Davis women's golf team rallied to place third in the team standings Wednesday at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington at Sahalee Country Club.

The Aggies entered the day tied for sixth but shot a 9-over 297 team score - the second-best score in the final round among the 12 teams - to jump into third. UC Davis finished 22 over for the 36-hole tournament which was shortened to just two rounds after fog cancelled the first round on Tuesday morning.

The Aggies finished eight shots in front of fourth-place Gonzaga (+30) and eight back of runner-up Stanford (+14). The host Huskies raced to a 19-stroke win, carding a 5-under total.

UC Davis capitalized on rounds of 72 and 74 from Lee and Lewis, respectively, while Betty Chen shot 75 and Andrea Wong fired a 76. Freshman Alexandra Zeng had an 84.

Lee and Lewis tied for fourth at 2 over while Chen tied for 16th at 5 over. Wong was 14 over and was 50th while Zeng tied for 59th at 21 over.

Washington, led by a medalist SooBin Kim who was 8 under, claimed the top three individual spots with Jennifer Yang and Eimi Koga tying for second at 1 over.

Lee's par round had a birdie and bogey on each the front and back nines. She birdied the par-4 first hole to get to red numbers quickly and then birdied the par-3 13th to do so again after a bogey on the ninth pushed her to par. She bogeyed her final hole to finish even.

Lewis, who had a 72 on Tuesday, was 2 over at her turn but then got a stroke back on the par-4 14th hole to help highlight her round of 74. Chen had three birdies - two of them on the front nine - and was even after nine holes. Wong was 2 over on both sides of the course and Zeng had a closing birdie to finish on a good note.

The Aggies will return to California for their final tournament of the fall when they compete at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 17-19.
