LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Even though No. 7 Louisville entered halftime with a 2-0 lead in Friday's non-conference match at Ulmer Stadium, UC Davis remained within striking distance throughout the entire match - something numerous Cardinals opponents have not been able to boast this season - but fell 3-0 in the second of four straight Aggie road contests.

UC Davis will enter Sunday morning's 9 a.m. (PT) match at Miami (OH) with a 4-11 overall record. Louisville recorded its third straight shutout victory and improved to 13-4.

Louisville's first two goals were scored within a five-minute timespan in the 17th and 22nd minutes; the Aggies more than held their own throughout the following 22 minutes until the Cardinals struck again in the 64th minute.

Between the latter two goals, UC Davis turned away 11 UofL shots and recorded six saves. During this timespan, Aggie goalkeeper Briana Sooy earned four of her five saves, her teammates chipped in to capture both team saves throughout this chunk of action.

Keeping the Aggies' deficit to a manageable size were defenders Linnea Whitney and Mattie Maloney. The junior picked up her second career defensive save in the 17th minute with Maloney, her senior teammate, capturing her first career DSv. in the 29th.

By stepping up with clutch defensive stops early in the match, the defensive duo prevented a potential Cardinals blowout before halftime. Instead, those in attendance witnessed an entertaining duel between the two.

Sophia Lisaius and Agustina Singh were responsible for the Aggies' attempts against Louisville 'keeper Sydney King, the latter recorded her team's only shot on goal.
