Oct. 20, 2014 College Sports Madness Preseason All-Mid Major Teams DAVIS, Calif. -- Having already earned preseason All-Big West Conference kudos from College Sports Madness, UC Davis senior forward Sydnee Fipps added to her preseason honors with yet another honor from the organization, named to the website's All-Mid Major Second Team.
One of two players from the Big West to be recognized, Fipps joins CSUN guard Ashlee Guay on the four team, 20-woman honor roll.
A two-time All-Big West first team selection, Fipps averaged a career-high 17.7 points per game as a junior, ranking third in the league in that category. She has appeared in every game during her UC Davis career and has started every contest since the start of her sophomore season (a total of 51 games), averaging 13.4 ppg and shooting .435 from the field for her career.
Fipps ranked among the top 15 in five offensive categories in 2013-14, helping the Aggies to a 15-16 overall record and a 9-7 mark in Big West play, advancing to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. She became the 16th player -- and only the third junior -- to reach 1,000 career points last season, reaching double figures in all but three of her 31 starts, including 16 games of 20-or-more points.
The Aggies open their 2014-15 schedule on Nov. 7 with an exhibition against Sonoma State at 7 p.m. at The Pavilion before officially lifting the lid on the regular season against nine-time defending national champion, and USA Today coaches poll preseason No. 1, Connecticut on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
Season and single-game tickets for the 15-game women's basketball home schedule are on sale now. For more information visit the tickets page online at UCDavisAggies.com.
