2013 Aggie Idol Official Flyer
DAVIS, Calif. - The sixth-annual Aggie Idol student-athlete talent show takes place Wednesday night at Freeborn Hall. Tickets to the event, the proceeds of which go to Team Davis, are available at the UC Davis Ticket Office at Aggie Stadium. Doors open at 6:45 for a 7:30 p.m. showtime.
Approximately 17 UC Davis teams will participate in the show, which ranges from dance to music to comedy. A secret panel of judges will choose winners from two categories: Individual or Duo, or Group (three or more).
Women's tennis player Megan Heneghan swept both categories at the 2012 show, which raised $3,209 for Team Davis. She teamed with men's tennis player Toki Sherbakov for a performance of the Beatles' "Let It Be" to win first place among the Individual/Duo entrants, then joined her Aggie teammates for a sketched entitled "Tennis Side Story" in the Group competition.
Tickets cost $8 for the rest of Tuesday (May 14), then go to $10 all day on Wednesday. The Freeborn Hall ticket office will open at 6:30 on Wednesday night. All seating is general admission.
Team Davis is a local nonprofit developed to enrich the lives of people with developmental, cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Members of Team Davis, who hail from the city and its neighboring communities, compete in the Special Olympics plus a variety of other athletic, recreational, cultural and social activities.
Founded in 2007, Aggie Idol is organized and hosted by the UC Davis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. This year's SAAC officers are Bridget Bugbee (swimming), Brandon Greenberg (track & field), Ellie Edles (tennis) and Hannah Mirza (lacrosse).
