DAVIS, Calif. - For the third straight year, UC Davis has earned the Big West Winter Sportsmanship awards in the sports of men's and women's basketball, it was announced by Commissioner Dennis Farrell.
The Sportsmanship Award is voted upon in each of the Big West's 16 championship sports by the respective student-athletes. Each participating student-athlete selects the school that demonstrates excellent conduct in competition. The winning teams are chosen at the end of the fall, winter and spring seasons.
"To earn the sportsmanship award from one's peers is a tremendous compliment to those programs who have embodied the Big West Conference's highest standards of conduct in competition," said Farrell. "Sportsmanship is integral to the overall ideals of the student-athlete experience."
