UC Davis jumped out to a 3-0 lead after Morgan led off the bottom of the first inning with a single, then came around to score on Allgrove's first double of the day, which landed just inside the right field line. David Popkins was hit by a pitch to reach base, then made his way around the bases before coming in to score on Nick Lynch's sacrifice fly. Politi, who was also hit by a pitch to get on first safely, scored UC Davis' final run of the inning on an RBI base hit from Wolf.

Quist and the Aggie defense kept Creighton scoreless in the second and retired the side in the third, but Erik Mattingly led off the fourth with a double down the left field line, then scored on Brennan Murphy's sacrifice fly. The Bluejays got another run after Mike Gerber scored on a wild pitch, cutting UC Davis' lead to 3-2.

The Bluejays tied it up in the sixth after McKewon's RBI base hit allowed Mattingly to score, then took a 4-3 lead after Ross scored on an Alex Staehely single.

UC Davis surged again in the seventh inning, scoring three runs to take a 6-4 lead. Morgan and Allgrove combined again for the first run after Morgan led off the inning, then scored on Allgrove's second run of the day. Politi's base hit through the gap into right field brought home Allgrove, then Popkins, who was intentionally walked, scored the third run on a Spencer Brann sacrifice fly.

The Bluejays, however, took the lead back for good, putting up three runs of their own in the top of the eighth. Ross brought home two runs with a double down the left field line, hen Judkins single allowed Ross to cross home plate as Creighton took the 7-6 win.
