Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. - The No. 58-ranked UC Davis women's tennis team sent its seniors out on a high note, sweeping Cal State Bakersfield, 7-0 in the final match of the regular season.

The Aggies had singles wins from Sidney Brady and Shawdee Rouhafza on senior day, while taking every match in doubles and singles competition for the sweep. UC Davis also had straight set wins in all singles matches, while improving to 17-6 on the season. The Roadrunners fell to 3-13 with the loss.

Megan Heneghan and Kelly Chui started the day with an 8-0 victory over Julian Mannix and Estefania Limpias in No. 1 doubles. Melissa Kobayakawa and Noelle Eades secured the doubles point by defeating Julie Hutton and Korina Barefield, 8-1 at the No. 3 position. Dahra Zamudio and Lauren Curry also posted a win in doubles action, downing Ashlee Thorneycroft and Veronica Dimas, 8-4.

Zamudio had the first singles win, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mannix. Heneghan was perfect on the day after not surrendering a game in doubles or singles, defeating Thorneycroft, 6-0, 6-0. The Aggies had the match in hand thanks to a clinching victory for Brady at the No. 5 position, after a 6-4, 6-2 win over Hutton. Rouhafza posted a win at No. 6 singles, taking care of Barefield with a 6-2, 6-0 score. Chui and Koehly also took victories at the No. 2 and 4 positions, respectively.

UC Davis will now prepare for the Big West Conference tournament, starting on Thursday, Apr. 28 in Indian Wells, Calif. The Aggies have clinched the No. 3 seed entering the postseason.
