Hogan To Receive Athletic Training Honor

April 15, 2011

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Jeff Hogan, head athletic trainer at UC Davis for the past 24 years, will be honored on Saturday evening in Las Veas when the Aggie veteran receives the Most Distinguished Award from the Far West Athletic Trainers Association during its annual symposium.

Hogan, who joined the UC Davis athletic training staff in 1984, is being recognized for oustanding service and dedication to the profession after more than two decades of service to the FWATA. The award honors contributions that have made significant impact on the organization.

Hogan graduated from UC Davis in 1981 before beginning his career at Santa Clara that same year. He returned to his alma mater as assistant athletic trainer in 1984 before becoming head athletic trainer in 1987. He currently oversees a staff consisting of seven fulltime Certified Athletic Trainers.

During his career he has been a guest speaker at several symposiums and conferences including the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium in Los Angeles in 2001. Hogan has also been published in the Journal of Athletic Training and was a contributing author to a textbook, "Athletic Training: Principles and Practice."

NATA has honored him several times as has the California Athletic Trainers' Association (CATA).
