Heintz, Stephens Named Big West All-Academic

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis senior Heidi Heintz and sophomore Hannah Stephens were named on Wednesday to the Big West Academic All-Conference team, part of 22 men's and women's basketball players from the league's nine schools recognized for achievement in the classroom.

Honorees have at least a 3.20 GPA, have attained a sophomore standing academically and competed in at least 50 percent of their games.

Heintz, an exercise biology major from Spokane, Wash., averaged 9.5 ppg and 4.8 rpg for UC Davis this season while earning All-Big West second-team honors for the second straight year. She also scored her 1,000th career point.

Stephens, an art studio major from San Mateo, transferred to UC Davis from the University of Utah, playing in all 33 games this season while averaging 4.0 ppg. She canned 23 three three-pointers and started two games for the Aggies.

UC Davis (24-9) enjoyed a historic season this year, winning the Big West Championship and earning its first-ever bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
