Final Stats
DAVIS, Calif. - The No. 65 UC Davis women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over UC Riverside, dominating every aspect of match en route to the sweep on Sunday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
The Aggies won all three doubles matches and swept every singles match to earn the victory. UC Davis improved to 16-4 on the season and 6-1 in the Big West while the Highlanders dropped to 5-12 with a 0-7 mark in conference play.
Lauren Curry and Dahra Zamudio had the first win of the day at No. 3 doubles, with an 8-2 defeat of Corpuz/Bergeson. Megan Heneghan and Kelly Chui had the deciding victory at No. 1 doubles, taking an 8-4 win over Raney/Raney. Nicole Koehly and Sidney Brady also won in their doubles match, downing Sakhakorn/McKay 8-4.
Singles action was one-sided in favor of the Aggies, with four players surrendering no more than two games per set. Koehly made quick work of Kate Bergeson, winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 position. Curry dropped just one game in her two sets, defeating Thah Doan, 6-0, 6-1. Ellie Edles had the clinching win in singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Anglique Corpuz at the No. 4 position. Heneghan, Chui and Zumudio also won in their respective matches in straight sets.
UC Davis will be back in action next weekend, hosting Long Beach State in a 2 p.m. match on Friday, Apr. 15.
