Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's tennis team won its fourth consecutive Big West match and improved its win streak to nine with a 5-2 defeat of Pacific on Friday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Aggies (10-2, 4-0) have not lost a match in over a month and the only two losses of the season have come at the hands of No. 1 Stanford and No. 20 Arizona State. Friday's win marks just the second time UC Davis has defeated Pacific in head coach Bill Maze's 16-year tenure, with the other victory coming in the 2008 season.

It was the first conference match of the season for the Tigers (3-5, 0-1) and the first home Big West match for the Aggies this season.

UC Davis dropped the first match in doubles competition but the Aggies responded with two consecutive wins to earn the doubles point. Ellie Edles and Nicole Koehly had an 8-5 defeat of Shabby Eslami and Summer Irvin at No. 2 doubles, before Dahra Zamudio and Lauren Curry earned the clinching win by defeating Olga Gumenyuk and Susen Te, 8-5.

UC Davis jumped out to a 3-0 lead two matches into singles competition, with Kelly Chui and Edles each taking wins. Chui made quick work of Irvin at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Edles also cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Eslami. After a loss at No. 1 singles, Koehly provided the clinching win for the Aggies with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win over Gumenyuk. Curry also posted a win at No. 6 singles, coming from behind for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Te.

UC Davis will put its win streak on the line tomorrow, when they travel to face San Jose State in an 11 a.m. match.
