Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. - The No. 60 UC Davis tennis team got back in the win column by making quick work of Montana, defeating the Grizzlies 6-1 on Sunday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Aggies took the doubles point and went on to win five consecutive singles matches in straight sets to earn their first victory as a nationally ranked team. With the win UC Davis improved to 12-3 on the season while Montana dropped to 8-10 with the loss.

Megan Heneghan and Kelly Chui set the tone at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 defeat of Whitney Paluch and Rebecca Bran. The pairing of Dahra Zamudio and Lauren Curry also won at doubles, defeating Constance Alexander and Ashley Mackey, 8-2, to secure the doubles point.

In singles competition, Curry got past Lauren Gibson with a 6-2, 6-1 victory before Zamudio took a 6-1, 6-3 win over Paluch. Heneghan came up with the clinching win by defeating Bran, 6-3, 6-1. Chui and Ellie Edles also posted wins in their respective singles matches, with both players winning in straight sets.

The Aggies will be back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 29, playing a rescheduled match against Nevada at home, starting at 2 p.m.
