Final Stats
FULLERTON, Calif. - The UC Davis women's tennis team won its conference opener, while extending its win streak to five with a 7-0 sweep over Cal State Fullerton at the Titan Courts.
The Aggies (6-2, 1-0) played singles competition first due to the threat of rain, winning all six matches and five of the matches in straight sets. UC Davis also took the doubles point to earn the sweep over the Titans (2-7, 0-3), after winning two out of three matches.
Freshman Megan Heneghan continued to impress at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win over the Titan's Tiffany Mai. Dahra Zamudio, Ellie Edles and Lauren Curry also won in straight sets, while Kelly Chui took the clinching win with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Karina Akhmedova.
Teams of Chui/Heneghan and Curry/Edles picked up doubles wins with 8-4 and 8-3 wins, respectively.
UC Davis will return to the courts tomorrow, playing another conference match on the road against Cal State Northridge at 1 p.m.
