DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis women's tennis had several wins on the opening day at the Saint Mary's Invitational, including a pair of victories for senior Dahra Zamudio in red flight singles. Nicole Koehly and Lauren Curry also advanced to semifinal matchups in white singles.
With every player on the roster in play, the Aggies posted several wins in all three flights. Zamudio started with a defeat over Stanford's Amelia Herring in the red round of 32. She advanced to the semifinals with a three set win against Saint Mary's Catherine Leduc, 7-5, 1-6, 7-5. Kelly Chui and Megan Heneghan also competed in red singles.
UC Davis was perfect on four singles matches in the white flight. Koehly, Curry, Noelle Eades and Melissa Kobayakawa each tallied victories. In the round of 16, Koehly downed Gonzaga's Sophie Lantta in a three-set match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Curry also advanced to the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Sandra Florea of San Jose State.
The Aggies' lone doubles win came in the red round of 16, when Chui and Heneghan cruised to an 8-1 defeat of Cal's team of Duranteau/Chang.
