PORTLAND, Ore. - The UC Davis women's tennis team took a 6-1 victory on the road over the Portland State Vikings Sunday, at Club Green Meadows. Similar to Saturday's win over Portland, the Aggies took two out of three doubles matches and dropped the first singles match, before rattling off five consecutive wins in singles.
With the win, UC Davis improved to 3-2 on the season, while Portland State dropped to 1-2. All of the singles matches won were in two sets for the Aggies.
UC Davis had a 1-0 advantage heading into singles competition, after the pairings of Ellie Edles/Lauren Curry and Kelly Chui/Melissa Kobayakawa each won 8-6 and 8-0, respectively.
Edles gave the Aggies their first singles win, after a 6-0, 6-2 defeat of Anya Dalkin. Curry also cruised to a win in singles action, taking a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nayantara Vadli. The clinching win came when Chui defeated Caitlin Stocking, 6-1, 6-1. Nicole Koehly and Kobayakawa also picked up wins in singles. Megan Heneghan did not play on Sunday due to injury.
UC Davis will be back in action next week, when they travel to face San Francisco on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 12 p.m.
