DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis senior forward Dominic Calegari has been selected to play in the Reese's College All-Star Game this Friday in Indianapolis. Calegari becomes the first Aggie in school history to compete in the event. The game will be held Friday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. (PDT) at Lucas Oil Stadium, the site of the Final Four.
The all-star game features two teams composed of 11 players each. Calegari will play for the Reese's All-Stars, which will take on the Hershey's All-Stars. A seasoned collection of coaches will also be part of the event with former Purdue head coach Gene Keady coaching Calegari's team and former Indiana State head coach Bill Hodges guiding the other. Illinois' Bruce Weber and Purdue's Matt Painter will serve as assistants on Calegari's team. Additional assistants include American's Jeff Jones and Virginia Tech's Seth Greenburg. UC Davis assistant coach Brandon Laird will serve as a manager for Calegari's team.
Calegari is the only player from the Big West represented on either roster. He is coming off a four-year UC Davis campaign that featured Second-Team All-Big West honors this past season. He led the Aggies in scoring in 2009-10 with 16.6 ppg. and finished third in the Big West. He also led the squad in three-point shooting and blocks. His 532 points as a senior vaulted him to No. 10 all-time in program history. He started 75 consecutive games from the last half of his sophomore season to the end of his career.
All players in the game are seniors and were selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The Reese's College All-Star Game will be televised live by CBS College Sports.
