ANAHEIM, Calif. - The UC Davis men's basketball team heads to Anaheim to take part in the Big West Conference Tournament. The Aggies finished the regular season tied for third in the conference and earned a No. 4 seed and a first-round bye. UC Davis begins play Thursday night in the quarterfinals against Cal State Fullerton. All of the Aggie action is available on KFSG 1690-AM as well as www.ucdavisaggies.com.

UC Davis concluded its regular season Saturday night in a thrilling 92-86 overtime victory at Cal State Fullerton. The win, coupled with a Cal Poly loss later that night, gave the Aggies the first-round bye. Dominic Calegari posted his second double-double of the year with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Julian Welch scored nine of his 18 points in overtime. Mark Payne added 12, and Adam Malik finished with a career-high 12.

Calegari leads the team with 16.7 ppg. Payne is averaging 16.3, and Joe Harden is tossing in 14.1 ppg. and 7.1 rpg. Calegari and Harden both earned All-Big West Second-Team honors. Welch is the conference's Freshman of the Year and is joined by Ryan Sypkens on the All-Freshman Team. In addition, Harden received the Big West Best Hustle Award.

The No. 4 seed is the highest ever for the Aggies, who are taking part in their second Big West Tournament. Last year, UC Davis defeated UC Irvine in the first round before falling to Pacific in the quarterfinals.

The Aggies' quarterfinal game is the second game of the evening session, which begins with the first game at 6 p.m. Cal State Fullerton defeated Cal State Northridge, 84-76, in Wednesday's first-round game. UC Davis defeated CSF, the No. 5 seed, both time this season.

The winner of the tournament receives the Big West's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
