Final Stats

BOISE, Idaho - Dominic Calegari scored 26 points, and Joe Harden added 24 as UC Davis (11-15) defeated Boise State, 82-74, Saturday night at Taco Bell Arena. The game was part of the nationwide BracketBusters event. The Aggies led by nine at the half and never let the Broncos get closer than seven the rest of the way. Daequon Montreal led Boise State (12-15) with 15 points.

Harden scored 20 points in the second half alone and came within one rebound of his seventh double-double of the season. Todd Lowenthal joined Harden with nine rebounds to go along with seven points and four assists. Ryan Sypkens finished with 11 points, and Ryan Howley added eight.

UC Davis struggled from the field early on in making just five of its first 19 attempts. After that point, the Aggies shot 63 percent the rest of the way and finished at 51 percent. UC Davis made eight of 14 from beyond the arc and outrebounded Boise State, 37-28.

Neither team led by more than five points through the first 15 minutes of the game. The Broncos led 19-17 with six minutes left in the half before the Aggies strung together the biggest run of the night. An 11-0 blitz started with a three-pointer by Sypkens and continued with back-to-back treys by Calegari. Harden capped off the run with a layup at the 3:32 mark, and UC Davis enjoyed a 28-19 lead. The Aggies would go to the break with a 36-27 lead.

At the start of the second half, UC Davis picked up where it left off at the end of the first period. Harden scored seven straight points to help give the Aggies a 50-34 cushion with 15:17 to play. It would be the largest lead of the night for UC Davis.

The Aggies kept a double-digit lead for the next six minutes until the Broncos closed within 58-49 with 9:03 left. The Aggies quickly pushed it back to a 63-49 lead after a trey and jumper by Calegari.

UC Davis prevented any serious run by Boise State the rest of the way. The closest the Broncos would get was 74-67 with 1:45 left. The Aggies shot 12-for-13 from the line in the second half and finished 16-for-21.

Both Calegari and Harden came within two points of their career-highs. Calegari scored 15 points in the second half as he and Harden combined for 35 of the team's 46 points in the final period.

UC Davis is next in action Thursday when it hosts Long Beach State at 7 p.m.
