Final Stats

STOCKTON, Calif. - Guard Eliza Dy made 6 of 7 three-pointers and finished with a game-high 26 points as host Pacific made 15 of 22 treys overall to upset UC Davis 74-58 in a Big West Conference women's basketball game at the Alex G. Spanos Center on Thursday night.

Heidi Heintz had her second straight double-double, posting 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Aggies who fell to 15-8 overall and 7-3 in the Big West. Pacific, which had lost 10 straight games before Thursday, improved to 4-18 overall and 2-9 in the league.

Hana Asano and Kasey Riecks each had 10 points for the Aggies who were just 3 of 18 from three-point and shot 37.5% from the field overall.

A win would've sent UC Davis into first place in the Big West after Long Beach State upset leader Cal Poly (15-8, 8-3) on Thursday, 72-65. However, UC Riverside (11-13) beat UC Santa Barbara in overtime, improving to 8-3 in the conference and now shares first place with the Mustangs, a half-game in front of the third-place Aggies.

UC Davis lost on Thursday after having its third straight opponent shoot at least 47% from beyond the arc. Cal Poly (57.1%) and UCSB (47.6%) were hot but Pacific (68.2%) was torrid.

"Pacific was terrific," said Aggie coach Sandy Simpson. "They were hot in the first half and got hotter in the second half. I mean 15 of 22 is ridiculous from three-point range. They had some good open looks but they also had some that we contested and they still knocked them down. So you have to give credit to Pacific."

The Tigers took the lead for good less than three minutes into the game and gradually extended it, using a 10-1 run midway through the half to go up 27-16 with 8:57 left after a three-pointer from Kendall Rodriguez. UC Davis clawed back, getting to within 31-27 with 2:14 to go after Paige Mintun made a three.

Pacific shot 57.1% from the field in the first 20 minutes, including making 6 of 11 from three-point. It scored 11 of the first 15 points of the second half to rebuild the lead to 11 points at 42-31 and got it to as much as 13 before the Aggies rallied to within 46-41 with 11:32 to go after a layup from Vicky Deely.

However, Dy had two treys and Jasmine Dana added another to make it 55-41 and the Aggies didn't seriously threaten the rest of the way.

Dy added a team-high six rebounds and seven assists while McKenzie's 10 points were aided by a trio of three-pointers.

Heintz was 4 of 8 from the field and had five offensive rebounds in her total of 11. The Aggies had 13 steals with four players grabbing two each.

UC Davis will return to action on Saturday when it hosts UC Irvine at 7 p.m. at The Pavilion.
