DAVIS, Calif. - The second student-athlete art show, called "The Art of Athletes," ended its run on Tuesday afternoon. The showcase featured artwork from 11 contributors, including show organizers Brandon Tucker and Kristina Taylor.

A photo gallery of the exhibits is available here. Included in the gallery are profiles of each artist and a brief explanation of what inspires their work.

The 2010 installment of The Art of Athletes took place on campus at the art department's Basement Gallery. Friday's portion included an opportunity to meet several of the artists and discuss their exhibits.

With the help of art professor Mike Henderson and the coordination of the UC Davis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Tucker launched The Art of Athletes during the 2009 Homecoming weekend. Last year's event took place at the Log Cabin Gallery in downtown Davis. Henderson advised Tucker to create an art show after several works were on display during the Aggie Idol charity talent show the previous spring.
