DAVIS, Calif. - Fans will get their first opportunity to see the 2010-11 UC Davis men's and women's basketball teams in action when the teams host an exhibition doubleheader on Wednesday at The Pavilion beginning at 4:45 p.m. The women's team, the media's pick to win this season's Big West Conference title, will host San Francisco State while the men, selected a best-ever fourth in their conference race, will play Menlo at 7 p.m.

Admission to both games is free. Both games will also be broadcast on www.ucdavisaggies.com.

The Aggie women finished 21-11 last season, advancing to the Big West Tournament title for the second time in their brief three-year NCAA Division I history. UC Davis, which returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from that squad, advanced to the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) for the second time, losing to eventual champion Cal in the first round.

The UC Davis men enjoyed their best Big West season last year by finishing in a tie for third during the regular season before earning a bye to the conference tournament where the Aggies advanced to the semifinals. The Aggies, who return four players who started at least 15 games, were 8-8 in league play.

Both teams are preparing for their regular-season openers next week. The men will host San Francisco Academy of the Art in another free exhibition on Saturday at 2 p.m. before opening the season on Nov. 12-14 at the Athletes in Action in Portland. UC Davis plays Florida Atlantic (Nov. 12), Portland (Nov. 13) and Wisc.-Milwaukee (Nov. 14). The wo
