DAVIS, Calif. - Heidi Heintz scored 16 points to lead four Aggies in double figures and UC Davis had a key 13-0 run in the second half on Saturday night as it beat Cal Poly 77-72 in a Big West Conference women's basketball game at The Pavilion.

The Aggies posted their third straight win, moving their overall mark to 10-6 and their conference mark to 3-1, a game back of leader Cal State Fullerton. Cal Poly had its four-game winning streak ended, falling to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Kristina Santiago posted game-highs with 29 points and eight rebounds for the Mustangs who also got 13 points from Ashlee Burns and 12 from Rachel Clancy. Kasey Riecks added 14 points for UC Davis while Haylee Donaghe had 13 and Vicky Deely 12.

The Aggies and Mustangs are the only two Big West teams currently with winning records and played a close game throughout. UC Davis led by as many as seven points in the first half before taking that advantage into intermission, 43-36. Cal Poly, though, held the Aggies scoreless for nearly six minutes to start the second half while getting six points from Santiago during a 9-0 surge to take a 45-43 lead.

Tied 45-45 with 14:19 left, Cal Poly took a 50-45 lead almost a minute later after a three-point play by Brittany Lange who was fouled on a put-back. UC Davis, though, put together a key 13-0 run over the next four minutes, highighted by a three-pointer from Riecks and a rare four-point play from Heintz who was fouled on her three-pointer from the corner. That surge staked the Aggies to a 58-50 advantage.

The Mustangs got to within three points with just under eight minutes to play but UC Davis was able to open it back up to seven points and didn't let Cal Poly get closer than four points the rest of the way.

The teams exchanged the lead in the early minutes of the game before the Aggies scored six straight for a 13-7 lead. They held it for most of the rest of the half, eventually pushing it to 25-18 on a three-pointer by Cortney French. Cal Poly, rallied, though, scoring five in a row to knot the game at 30-30 with 5:01 remaining. An 8-2 run by UC Davis to end the half gave it a 43-36 lead at the break.

Cal Poly shot 56 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.

Donaghe had four assists and Asano had five steals for the Aggies while Mintun and Deely each had six rebounds. Santiago was 13 of 20 from the field, following up her 27-point, 13-rebound game at Pacific on Thursday. Burns had a trio of three-pointers to key her 13 points while Clancy had a pair.

After a busy week of playing three Big West games in six days, UC Davis will play just one next week, traveling to face UC Irvine on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
