Aggies' Road Stretch Continues At UCR And LBSU

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's basketball team continues its road play this week when it plays at UC Riverside on Thursday night followed by Long Beach State on Saturday afternoon. The games are the conclusion of a stretch of six games in which the Aggies are playing five times away from The Pavilion. Thursday's game tips at 7 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center while Saturday's begins at 4:05 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid. UC Davis enters the UC Riverside game 7-11 overall and 3-3 in the Big West. The Aggies are currently in fourth-place in the conference. Pacific holds the top spot at 5-1, followed by UC Santa Barbara (5-2) and Cal Poly (5-2). UC Riverside is in ninth-place with a 2-5 mark. The Highlanders are 8-11 overall. Long Beach State is tied with Cal State Northridge for seventh in the Big West with a 2-4 record.

The Aggies are coming off a 77-61 loss at Pacific on Saturday night. Joe Harden led UC Davis with a game-high 19 points, and Mark Payne added 15. Payne continues to lead the Big West in scoring (17.5 ppg). Dominic Calegari is fourth (16.4 ppg.), and Harden is 10th (13.5 ppg.).

UC Riverside is coming off a 65-56 victory at UC Irvine on Saturday night, snapping a five-game losing streak. Overall, the team is 2-8 after opening the season with a 6-3 record. Junior forward Kyle Austin leads the Highlanders with 16.9 points per game. The second-leading scorer is senior Larry Gurganious at 8.5 ppg.

The Highlanders lead the all-time series, 26-23. The teams have split the season series the past two years with the home team winning each time. UC Riverside has won the past four meetings at the Student Recreation Center.
