OPENING TIPS
UC Davis tries for its season-best sixth straight win while extending its longest winning streak since the 2007-08 season when the Aggies host Pacific in their only Big West Conference action of the week... By virtue of Cal Poly's loss at UC Riverside on Thursday, UC Davis is in sole possession of first place, leading the Mustangs by a half-game... The Aggies' current winning streak is just two shy of the seven consecutive they won two years ago... Besides leading the league in overall wins, UC Davis is also a conference-best 7-3 on the road and is just one of two teams (Cal Poly is the other) that currently has a winning record... The Aggies have scored at least 77 points in each of its last three games, the first time that's happened since the middle of the 2003-04 season against Cal Poly Pomona (L, 109-92), Cal State Stanislaus (W, 95-72) and Cal State Bakersfield (L, 85-78)... UC Davis shot a season-high 58.8% from the field overall and from three-point territory during its win at Cal State Bakersfield on Monday... That performance bumped the Aggies' season shooting mark to 42.8%, second-best in the Big West... UC Davis is second among league teams in free throw shooting (.738) while W Heidi Heintz is first among individuals (.877).

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. PACIFIC
UC Davis leads the Tigers 8-6 in their all-time series which started during the 1978-79 season, was played four times, and then took a break until resuming in 2004-05.. The Aggies won six straight from 2004-05 but Pacific has captured two of the past three, doing so by a total of four points... The teams split their two matchups last year, each protecting their own floor... UC Davis led 30-18 at halftime during its win, getting 16 points from W Kasey Riecks, 12 from P Paige Mintun and 10 by W Cortney French... UC Davis won despite committing 24 turnovers but benefitted from 29 by Pacific... Mintun had 17 points during the Tigers' 63-60 home victory earlier in the season.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE TIGERS
Pacific lost 76-63 to visiting Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday, extending their current losing streak to five games... The Tigers opened league play with a 76-70 overtime win at Cal State Northridge on Jan. 2 before its current streak started... CHRISTINA THOMPSON is the line Tiger averaging in double figures, scoring at 12.6 ppg clip while starting just two games... She had 19 against the Roadrunners... JENNIFER FATH is close to double-digit scoring (9.2) while EMMA HEAD (6.4) leads the team in rebounding... Pacific is third in the Big West in blocks (3.8) and second in steals (10.4), the only other team besides UC Davis averaging at least 10 steals per game... Thompson is shooting 49.6% from the field while third-best in the league and ELIZA DAY is No. 3 in steals (2.1)... Pacific is being outscored (70.9-61.7) and outrebounded (42.3-36.7) and shoots just 59.8% from the line.

LAST GAME: UC DAVIS 79, CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD 76
W Kasey Riecks scored a game-high 21 points to lead four Aggies in double figures while P Paige Mintun - who had 10 - scored five of the game's final six points in the last two minutes as UC Davis women's rallied for a thrilling nonconference win over Cal State Bakersfield at the Icardo Center on Monday afternoon... W Heidi Heintz scored a season-high 17 points and had a team-best seven rebounds for the Aggies who also received 10 points from W Haylee Donaghe... UC Davis shot a season-high 58.8% from the field, including the same percentage from three-point where it was 10 of 17... Cal State Bakersfield was just as dangerous from beyond the arc, making a school-record16 in 32 attempts, including 9 of 15 in the second half... Tied 31-31 at halftime, UC Davis made 69.2% of its shots after intermission... UC Davis twice led by eight points in the second half but couldn't get any separation from the Roadrunners who rallied to within a point and stayed close before tying the game 64-64 on Kelly Tarver's trey with 4 minutes, 54 seconds left... The game was tied three more times before Katie Williams' three-pointer in the corner put Cal State Bakersfield in front 76-73 with 1:53 left... Mintun, though, tied it with a straightaway three-pointer less than 30 seconds later, the Aggies got a turnover, and then Mintun drove to the hoop for a layup with 53 seconds left to put UC Davis up by a pair... The teams traded turnovers before Phynique Allen lost control of the ball moving into the key with two seconds left and it went out of bounds... G Hana Asano then made 1 of 2 free throws before the clock expired.

RIECKS HEATING UP FROM DOWNTOWN
W Kasey Riecks has had the hot hand as of late, averaging 17.3 ppg over the Aggies' last three games... Half of her 18 field goals during that span have been from three-point - three in each game - lifting her to No. 3 in the Big West for three-pointers per game (1.6), No. 3 in three-point percentage (.426) and No. 6 in overall field goal percentage (.482)... Riecks has made at least one trey in 14 of the Aggies' 18 games, has 11 over her past four, and opened her season with a career-high five at Seattle... The season-debut performance helped her tally a career-high 21 points which she equaled against Cal State Bakersfield on Monday.

MINTUN STRETCHING DEFENSES
P Paige Mintun made just six three-pointers over her first 26 games with UC Davis but has become a long-distance threat over the past two... She canned 18 three-pointers last year and already has 12 this season... She is one of four Aggies with at least 10 treys this year... She has made two in a game twice this year, including Monday at Bakersfield... Her trey in that game tied it late, 76-76... Not only is Mintun adept at making shots, she's also key in blocking them... Her 76 career swats rank No. 6 all-time at UC Davis.

WHOM DO YOU FOUL?
A perennial strength for UC Davis has been its foul shooting and this season is no different... The Aggies are second in the Big West (.738), have two players (W Heidi Heintz, W Haylee Donaghe) in the top 10 and have seven players making at least 70%... Heintz, who is 23rd nationally, is at 87.7% while Donaghe is at 77.4%.

AGGIES CONTINUE TO LEAD LEAGUE IN SCORING DEFENSE: The Aggies are the top conference team in scoring defense, giving up an average of just 60.3 ppg., just ahead of second-place UC Santa Barbara (63.2)... They've held 10 opponents to less than 60 points and are 9-1 in those matchups, the exception coming when Seton Hall was able to break the string in its 58-54 win on Dec. 21... UC Davis has hovered around the 60-point average in recent weeks despite allowing at least 72 points in two of its past three games.

AGGIES PACE THE BIG WEST IN FOUR AREAS
UC Davis is not just in first place in the standings, it also leads the league in four statistical categories... Currently, they are tops in scoring defense (60.3), scoring margin (+5.6), steals (11.2) and turnover margin (+4.6)... They are second in both free throw pct. (.738) and rebounds allowed (37.8) and are among the top half in 13 statistical areas overall.

DONAGHE GETS EXTRA YEAR
W Haylee Donaghe was granted a clock extension in October 2008 by the NCAA due to injuries earlier in her Aggie career... That gave her two years of eligibility at the time but, unfortunately, a knee injury suffered at South Dakota State in December 2008 cut short one of those seasons... Donaghe completed her undergraduate degree in exercise biology in June 2008 and is currently enrolled in graduate studies at UC Davis, expecting to graduate with her master's degree in exercise biology next spring... Donaghe needs 168 points to become the 14th player in school history to surpass 1,000 for her career.

LINEUP CONSISTENCY
Despite having a deep lineup, UC Davis head coach Sandy Simpson has used consistency with his starting five... The quintet of P Paige Mintun, W HALEY DONAGHE, W Kasey Riecks, W Heidi Heintz and G Hana Asano have started 12 of the 18 games, going 9-3... When Mintun missed four games in December, W Lauren Juric was inserted into her spot for those plus two more... UC Davis went 3-3.

HEINTZ NAMED BIG WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
W Heidi Heintz, who averaged 13.3 points and was nearly perfect from the line during UC Davis' first three wins in early December, was named the Big West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 7... Heintz had a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds in UC Davis' 71-59 win at Saint Mary's on Dec. 1, followed with 12 points and a game-best seven boards in the Aggies' 74-56 victory at Santa Clara on Dec. 3, then scored 13 points during a 64-57 win over visiting Denver on Dec. 5... Heintz, who transferred to UC Davis from the University of San Francisco, shot 57.1 percent from the field and 93.8 percent (15 of 16) from the line... She is the Aggies' first Big West weekly honoree of the season.

SIMPSON BECOMES ALL-TIME WINS LEADER
With a 53-50 win at Cal State Northridge last Mar. 4, Head coach Sandy Simpson became the all-times win leader at UC Davis with 206... He owns a career mark in 13 seasons of 217-139 (.610)... He picked up his 200th career win on Jan. 4 with an 86-66 victory over visiting Cal State Northridge... Simpson surpassed former coach JORJA HOEHN (1988-95, 96-97) who amassed a 205-51 (.801) record during her impressive tenure... Simpson served as an assistant coach under Hoehn as well as mentor PAM GILL-FISHER (1975-79, 81-86, 87-88) who posted 164 career victories.

UC DAVIS SCORES BIG ON ALL-BIG WEST TEAMS
The Aggies were well-represented on the All-Big West Conference teams last year, despite finishing 7-9 in league and in fifth place... P Paige Mintun, who led the team in scoring (13.0 ppg), rebounding (6.4 rpg) and blocks (31), was named to the All-BWC first team... W Lauren Juric, who canned 35 three-pointers, was named the Big West Freshman of the Year... W Kasey Riecks, who started all 29 games, was selected to the All-Freshman team... She and Juric were also tabbed honorable mention all-league.

UC DAVIS TO BE TESTED WITH SCHEDULE
The Aggies will face a 2009-10 schedule that features teams from the Big XII, Pac-10 and Big East conferences during a rugged nonconference slate... Among the teams they have faced or will face are preseason No. 2 Stanford (Nov. 22), NCAA Tournament team Kansas State (Dec. 29) and Women's National Invitational Tournament participant Creighton (Nov. 27)... The Aggies will also battle rival UC Santa Barbara twice during the league season... The Gauchos advanced to last year's NCAA postseason with the Big West's automatic berth... UC Riverside, another Big West foe, earned a spot in the WNIT.
