DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis fans will help usher in the 2009 football season while also welcoming Chancellor Linda Katehi to campus on Friday night when the third annual Aggie Women's Huddle is held at Aggie Stadium.
The event, designed for the Aggies' loyal female fans, will focus on the strategy of play calling and drills, and will provide an interactive opportunity to learning about UC Davis football. Aggie coaches and players will conduct demonstrations and provide an insider's look to the UC Davis team and to the sport.
The event, which has become hugely popular after just two years, will also provide Aggie fans a chance to meet Chancellor Katehi who will be completing her first week on the UC Davis campus.
Katehi joined the Aggie family after serving as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Illinois in Champaign from 2006-09. She has also held posts at Purdue University and the University of Michigan. Katehi earned her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from National Technical University of Athens. She added master's and doctoral degrees in the same discipline from UCLA.
The Aggie Women's Huddle will be conducted on the playing field of Aggie Stadium which will also host a football scrimmage on Saturday at 7 p.m. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
